Special days Updated 9 Oct 2026

These Teachers' Day wishes are for the people who taught you to hold a pencil, solve for x, or simply believe you could. Every message here was written fresh, in English, Hindi and Marathi, so you can thank a school teacher, a college professor, a tuition sir or a dance guru without sounding like a forwarded card.

Pick a short line for a WhatsApp status, a heartfelt note from a student, or a polite message for a principal or fellow teacher. Copy any wish with one tap and add your teacher's name before you send it.

Long Teachers' Day messages for cards

  • Dear Sir, it has been years since I sat in your classroom, yet I still hear your voice whenever I check my work twice. You taught us that being careful is a form of respect, and I have carried that into every job I have held. Thank you, and happy Teachers' Day.

    WhatsApp
  • To the teacher who stayed back after annual day practice to stitch my torn costume: I never forgot it. You showed us that teaching is not only lessons on a board but small acts of care in between. I hope your classroom today is full of flowers, handmade cards and grateful faces.

    WhatsApp
  • Ma'am, you took a nervous student who mixed up every formula and turned her into someone who now teaches physics herself. Every time I see a confused face in my own class, I try to do what you did for me. Your patience lives on in more classrooms than you know.

    WhatsApp
  • For the long evenings at tuition, the extra worksheets and the honest feedback that sometimes stung, thank you. You never let us settle for good enough when you knew we could do better. Wishing you a peaceful Teachers' Day and a cup of tea that stays hot for once.

About Teachers' Day

Teachers' Day in India is celebrated on 5 September, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the philosopher and teacher who became the country's second President. When his students wanted to celebrate his birthday, he is widely said to have asked them to honour all teachers instead.

In many schools, senior students take over classes for the day and play teacher, while younger children bring flowers, cards and small handmade gifts. Speeches, skits and cultural programmes are common, and many colleges hold events to thank their faculty. National Teachers' Awards are also presented around this time.

The day is called Shikshak Diwas in Hindi and Shikshak Din in Marathi. Many people also use it to reach out to former teachers, tuition tutors, coaches and mentors they have not spoken to in years.

Tips for sending your wishes

  • Send your wish early in the morning, because most teachers are busy with programmes and classes for the rest of the school day.
  • Add one specific memory, such as a lesson, a project or a kind remark, so your teacher knows exactly who the message is from.
  • When writing to a former teacher you have lost touch with, mention your batch year and section so they can place you.

Teachers' Day in India is celebrated every year on 5 September, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. In 2027 it falls on 5 September as usual.

How do I write a heart touching Teachers' Day message from a student?

Mention one real moment, such as the day your teacher helped you through a tough exam or noticed you when you were shy. Specific memories feel far more heartfelt than general praise, and the longer messages on this page show how to shape one.

How can I wish my teacher in Hindi on Teachers' Day?

You can send a simple line like "किताबें तो सबने पढ़ाईं, जीना आपने सिखाया। धन्यवाद सर।" Our Teachers' Day wishes in Hindi page has many more, including rhyming two-liners.

Is it fine to send Teachers' Day wishes to a college professor?

Yes, professors and mentors appreciate being remembered just as much as school teachers. Keep the tone respectful and mention a course, project or piece of advice that helped you.
