Long Basant Panchami messages
Basant Panchami takes me back to school mornings, everyone in yellow, books stacked neatly near the puja corner and nobody allowed to study for once. I hope this spring brings you that same light feeling. May your work, your learning and your music all grow this year.
WhatsAppTo my students: today, put your books down with respect and pick them up again tomorrow with fresh curiosity. Learning is a long road and I'm proud of how far each of you has come. Wishing you a joyful Basant Panchami.
WhatsAppOur daughter wrote her first letter today, a slightly wobbly 'a' on a slate, and the whole family clapped as if she had won a prize. Moments like this are why we love this festival. Sending you love and yellow sweets from all of us.
WhatsAppSpring has a way of making everything feel possible again. The mustard is in bloom, the air is softer, and kites are back on every terrace. I hope this season gives you a fresh start in whatever you're working towards. Happy Vasant Panchami, my friend.

About Basant Panchami
Basant Panchami, also called Vasant Panchami, falls on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Magh and marks the arrival of spring. It is closely linked with learning, music and the arts, and in many parts of India it is celebrated as Saraswati Puja, honouring the goddess of knowledge.
Yellow is the colour of the day, matching the mustard fields in bloom. In many homes people wear yellow, cook saffron rice or yellow sweets, and place books, pens and musical instruments near the puja. Some families choose this day for a child's first writing lesson.
In West Bengal, Odisha and Assam, schools and colleges hold Saraswati Puja with students dressed in yellow. In Punjab and parts of North India, the day is known for kite flying.
Tips for sending your wishes
- Send wishes early in the morning, as many students and families spend the later part of the morning at puja in schools or homes.
- Pair your wish with a photo in yellow, since the colour is part of the celebration.
- For Bengali friends, call the day Saraswati Puja in your message, as that is the name they use.
